NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti
NABA is an Academy of Art and Design and the largest Academy of Fine Arts in Italy. It was the first to receive official recognition from the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR) in 1981. It was ranked by QS World University Rankings® by Subject as the leading Italian Academy of Fine Arts worldwide and 41st among the Top 50 institutions in the field of Art & Design.
With campuses in Milan, Rome and, from the 2026/27 academic year, London, NABA offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in design, fashion design, graphic design and communication, media arts, new technologies, set design and visual arts. These programmes lead to academic diplomas recognised as equivalent to university degrees. The Academy also offers PhD programmes and Special Programmes.
Founded in Milan in 1980 by Ausonio Zappa, initially with the involvement of Guido Ballo and Tito Varisco, and subsequently bringing together a group of artists including Gianni Colombo, the Academy has always sought to challenge the rigidity of traditional academic education and introduce perspectives and forms of expression more closely aligned with contemporary artistic practices, the art world and the creative professions.
Its teaching methodology is based on an interdisciplinary approach, with a strong emphasis on research, innovation and experimentation, addressing some of today’s most relevant topics, including emerging technologies, artificial intelligence and sustainability.
Through Artistic Intelligence, we nurture people to design a new tomorrow.
Corporate Advisory Board
The Corporate Advisory Board (CAB) — composed of the Master’s Degree Programme Scientific Committee and representatives of the most important firms in the industry — aims to ensure student employability and business partner satisfaction.
The objective of the programme is to transmit a body of knowledge that encompasses new technologies, and an understanding of industry dynamics through the involvement of companies that act as a bridge between the classroom and the job market.
During the CAB our Corporate Partners:
- Cooperate in the program design: sharing its objectives, curriculum, processes and training program
- Participate in teaching and coordinating activities: with business managers contributing on-the-job experience
- Support the Career Service team: through the field project, a key opportunity for students to be involved in a company experience
