Overview

Objectives

The objective of the programme is to provide the tools to access and stand out in higher education institutions through the development of an in-depth knowledge of the processes that enable the creation of an authentic, culturally and gender inclusive organizational culture. We train a new generation of professionals who understand the underlying principles that govern the decision-making activities of higher education institutions and how to accordingly practice effective management and leadership in a wide variety of organizational settings.

  1. The programme aims at developing the following competences:
  2. To acquire interpersonal competences instrumental to the development of a personal management and leadership
  3. To develop a comparative European and global perspective
  4. To develop the skills necessary to create an authentic, culturally and gender inclusive organizational culture
  5. To develop the skills necessary to manage successful teams
  6. To learn to apply techniques and tools of coordination, communication and strategic alignment aimed at the effective management of new working environments (e.g., hybrid, remote, etc.)

While developing a strong leadership expertise, the programme will also provide candidates with the skills to become leaders in higher education management, in their current professional areas and beyond. This DBA brings together an applied focus on higher education management and the latest scholarship in the field. Candidates will develop a thorough understanding of how and why things happen in contemporary higher education, blended with current trends and Leaderships. Candidates will graduate with skills needed for higher education managers:

  • Equipped to build capacity in higher education professional services and the managers to respond rapidly and creatively to globalisation, marketisation and internationalisation.
  • Equipped with research-based and practical knowledge, professional and personal skills to manage strategically and successfully in a constantly changing environment.

Target Audience

The DBA is designed for university managers that want to advance in their professional careers.

Candidates must have at least a master’s degree and significant work experience (7+ years) in the higher education industry. Desired student profiles include senior and upcoming managers of academic and student services.
