Francesca Barbieri, M.D., Ph.D., an Adjunct Faculty Member at Luiss Business School, is a Clinical and Medical Affairs executive in med-tech and pharma industry.   

Physician with deep medical and research knowledge, she gained over 25 years of international clinical experience in med-tech and pharma companies with global footprint, e.g. Medtronic, Guidant/Abbott Vascular, Schering-Plough/Merck and Lilly. 

Francesca played roles of increasing responsibility in clinical research and medical affairs (and more recently in regulatory affairs too) in many therapeutic areas. She contributed to the development of new therapies, from early phase to commercialization. In the last 20 years she has worked mainly in the cardiovascular field and participated in multiple research & development activities, joint-venture, due diligence and post-acquisition activities.  

Francesca graduated in medicine cum laude at the University of Padua and practiced medicine at the Institute of Internal Medicine of the university hospital of Padua and in the field.  She specialized in geriatrics cum laude and completed a Ph.D. that served as bridge to the research world in the pharmaceutical industry.  Innovative, patient-focused, quality driven, with strong work ethics and expertise in people development and change management.
