On May 19, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, as part of the 4th International Mega-Projects Workshop, an evening session will be held at LUISS Business School with the Keynote Speaker Mark Thurston, Regional Managing Director at CH2M. The session will be focused on major UK programmes, with the participation of high-profile discussants.

The UK has seen a renaissance in infrastructure investment in the last 10-20 years, from the new terminal 5 at Heathrow airport, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Crossrail, Thames Tideway tunnel and now High Speed 2, Crossrail 2 and potentially further airport expansion at Heathrow for a third runway. This has been noticed, not just nationally but it has also attracted global interest from academics, the engineering and construction supply chain and clients from as far as Canada, the Middle East and Asia. The draw and development of organisational capability and leadership resources, the understanding of “what good looks like” and the understanding of the critical factors that drive successful outcomes have all become much better understood and are being actively shared around the UK “major projects” community. The talk will be based on the perspective and experience of Mark Thurston and his organisation’s participation in some of these major programmes.
