Summer School – <b> </b>Made in Italy in Luxury Industries

Objectives

The summer school in International Management of Made in Italy industries is a one-week programme that introduces students to the latest business strategies of global players and high-end niches in industries where creativity, innovation and exclusiveness are the key factors for success. The program adopts a cross-industry approach, analyzing operating and innovation strategies pursued by leading Italian companies in industries including fashion, design, automotive, luxury yachting, hi-tech, food, and beverages. Special emphasis is placed on the actual implementation of these strategies. Successful business people and entrepreneurs will open the doors of their companies to tell their stories and share their business secrets.

After the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the key charachteristics and differences among Made in Italy industries in terms of managerial practices;
  • Understand the fundamental business models of “Made in Italy” and why their structure might differ across various industries;
  • Learn how successful Italian companies adapt, implement and execute the latest marketing and innovation strategies;
  • Know how to build and manage successful businesses in the digital era;
  • Apply the acquired knowledge and insights to business cases and to solve business issues.

Target Audience

The Summer School is open to recent graduates — or those graduating soon — with a Bachelor or Master Degree in any discipline who want to explore the Made in Italy and luxury business industry for the first time.

Curriculum

The summer school in Made in Italy in Luxury Industries introduces to key strategic and managerial topics in Luxury industries. The programme is specifically designed to provide participants with a clear overview of these industries along with its current challenges. It is integrated in a set of complementary short modules with the right mix of theory and practice and company visits in order to actively engage participants.

Day 1

  • Fundamentals of “Made in Italy”: an integrated structural model
  • Marketing and Branding of Made in Italy
  • A deep dive on theoretical models and managerial practices of the industries of Made in Italy Focus Food & Wine

Day 2

  • Fundamentals of Fashion Management
  • Fundamentals of Luxury Management
  • A deep dive on managerial practices of the industries of Made in Italy Focus Fashion – store visits and benchmark

Day 3

  • The role of Innovation and sustainability in Made in Italy
  • The role of Organization in Made in Italy
  • The role of Internationalization in Made in Italy
  • A deep dive on managerial practices of the industries of Made in Italy Focus Design-Tech/Yachting

Day 4

  • A deep dive on managerial practices of the industries of Made in Italy Focus Automotive and motorbike
  • The role of Digital Communication in Made in Italy

Day 5

  • Group work
  • Group presentation

Tuition and Funding

Tuition 

The tuition fee for the Summer School is € 1.450. Tuition includes materials and access to all Luiss Business School facilities.

For participants enrolling in Luiss Business School Master a.y. 2025-2026, the cost of the week, will be deducted from the cost of the Master programme.

ECTS and Certificate of Participation

The Summer School Luxury and fashion industry: business models and new trends provides students with 4 ECTS – European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System.

At the end of the programme a certificate of participation will be issued to those who have attended at least 80% of the didactic activities included in the programme.
