
Maria Isabella Leone is Associate Professor at Luiss Guido Carli and Luiss Business School.
She teaches Economics and Business Management at the Undergraduate school of the University and Innovation Management, Open Innovation & IP Management, Economics of Strategy in the MBA, executive and custom courses of the Business School.
At Luiss Business School she is Academic Coordinator of the Luiss Business School MBA Portfolio, Director of the Flex MBA, Director of the Executive Master in Open Innovation & Intellectual Property and the Executive Master in Open Social Innovation.
She is also Scientific Director of the Observatory on Gender Equity in Leadership in Healthcare and Head of the Grow (Generating Real Opportunities for Women) project, which aims to promote, support and improve the personal and professional development of Luiss Business School female students with a focus on job placement and career advancement aimed at achieving top positions in companies, administrations, institutions, universities and other organizations.
Since 2013, she has been a member of the faculty of the PhD in Management (Luiss Guido Carli). He is supervisor of several PhD students (including industrial ones) on topics related to the management of Open Innovation, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer.
She also acts as Advisory Board Member of the “Innovation to Impact” project and Senior Advisor of co-creation projects between Large Enterprises and start-ups in the Open Italy Program, organized by the Elis Consortium.
Currently, Professor Leone is a senior member of different research projects, both nationally and internationally, such as ENGAGE.EU, and operates as Luiss Under-40 Leader of the Luiss unit in the Research Project of National Relevance (PRIN) “Open Social Innovation for a Next Generation of Public Governance,” funded by the Ministry of Research.
Her research focuses on the strategic management of Intellectual Property rights, policies to foster the use of IP, patent and trademark licensing, and Open Innovation in general. She has published on these topics in leading international journals, notably Strategic Management Journal, R&D Management Journal and Industrial and Corporate Change. In the course of her experience, she has received awards and recognition for her teaching and research in the field of innovation management.
