Luiss Business School is a partner in the EHRM – European Human Resource Management Programme

Achieving a competitive advantage in an increasingly international environment is nowadays more and more challenging for companies. Luiss Business School’s membership in the EHRM – European Human Resource Management Programme is a key initiative to support them in being successful in this objective. This Programme brings together participants and faculty from seven leading European Business Schools and Universities: students have the chance to attend lectures on HR taught by an international faculty and then, to carry out an HR project in a multinational company. The 2019 edition of EHRM consisted of three residential phases at Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration in Latvia, Vlerick Business School in Belgium, EM Lyon Ecole de management in France, followed by an in-depth, eleven-week consultancy project carried out within, or on behalf of, an internationally operating company. A plus for companies Luiss Business School’s membership in the projects is an uncommon opportunity for its corporate partners to avail themselves of the most advanced HR management perspectives and strategies, encompassing both the proficiency of an international faculty and the commitment of international students coming from Business Schools and Universities of different Countries. The three residential elements are thought to deepen HR topics through lectures, business cases and business games, and themes concerning multiculturalism: dealing with diversity is, indeed, a complementary aim of the programme. It’s a moment to share knowledge and carry out strategic ideas”. “On our first day at Snam we were received really nice and the kindness and support of the employees remained there from the beginning till the end” says Luuk Bongers of Radboud University, Nijmegen, in The Netherlands. “Snam’s employees were always willing to help and to think along with us and this was highly appreciated. We were given our own meeting room and laptop for the whole period so, we were able to conduct our research about the development of a graduate programme for Snam and its affiliates. Working and living together with my Belgium project partner was a really nice experience and I can safely say that I learned a lot about her culture and, of course, about the Italian one.” “We spent 2,5 months in Snam” adds Julia Ramming of Otto-Friedrich University, Bamberg in Germany. “The collaboration with the other students was wonderful, we made all decision together, respected each other and divided the work well”. An opportunity of international career development for Masters’ students “The EHRM is unique in its offering, by combining academic knowledge with practical and international experience, enabling the students to build skills facilitating success in their chosen careers” explains Fabian Homberg, Associate Professor of Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour at Luiss Business School. “This is an excellent program that prepares students for the job market and future careers in HR consulting and related careers in the HRM field”. The Residential at Riseba University in Riga “In residential we stayed at Riseba University in Riga where we got courses about cross-cultural differences, consultancy skills and multiple HR related topics” says Luuk. “During this period, we spent most of the days at the University, benefiting from the professional experience of the speakers, their practical approach and dynamic way of teaching. We also had a nice city tour where we saw some of the beautiful place of Riga and we also had some activities during the evenings where we were able to get to know each other better”. “Latvians are proud of their Country, its food and its costumes” adds Julia. “We were able to go to the beach and had drinks together as an EHRM group”. Students of the Master in International Management at Luiss Business School during the final presentation of the Project Works at EM Lyon Ecole de management “EHRM 2019 was an important experience that gave me so much, without disappointing any expectations” says Fabio Savino, students of the Master in International Management at Luiss Business School. “The project was a concrete opportunity to get in touch with multinational companies. ERS Bounty Call

For a long time, the LUISS Business School has been committed to ethics, responsibility and sustainability (ERS) issues both in terms of teaching and research through the ERS Hub community and the various ERS initiatives. The ERS Bounty competition is aimed at the entire Faculty of the Department of Business and Management and at all the staff of the LUISS Business School to propose design ideas on ERS issues in Villa Blanc. As defined by the EQUIS Accreditation Standards: Ethics refers to behavior in the LUISS Business School that must be based on the values ​​of honesty, fairness and integrity. These are of considerable interest to people, society and the environment and imply the commitment to encourage and promote a highly moral conduct of teachers, administrative staff and students by identifying, asserting and applying deontological standards in decisions and LUISS Business School activities. The essential characteristic of responsibility is the desire to integrate broader social and environmental considerations into the decision-making process and to respond personally to the impact of decisions and activities on society and the territory. Responsibility is closely linked to sustainability. Sustainability addresses the social, environmental and economic challenges and common goals of society and of the planet. It refers to issues such as the responsible use of resources, sustainable consumption and the development of a more properly human society and economy. The LUISS Business School training course for the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund on the starting blocks

Roberto Dandi, lecturer LUISS University Guido Carli and scientific director of the project, with the PPAF representatives - Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund Between 22 and 24 January 2019, the kick-off meeting of the project “Poverty Reduction through Rural Development in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Neighboring Areas” was held in Islamabad. It was commissioned by PPAF - Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, funded by AICS - Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and Development Cooperation Department of the Italian Foreign Ministry, and then implemented by the LUISS Business School. The project will consist of 7 intensive training courses on various issues related to rural development and it will be aimed at 95 Pakistani representatives of the PPAF, at the PPAF partner organizations and at governments and local communities in the most vulnerable areas of Pakistan. The courses will be held at the LUISS Business School, as well as in Emilia Romagna, Puglia and Sardinia. Study visits to Italy will show participants the peculiar traditions, structures and innovations for the development of the country, which can be adapted in Pakistan. The expected results include the strengthening of planning and management capacities, the development of an integrated government-community approach within the territorial areas and improvements in areas such as health, education, tourism, local governance. 12/02/2019

Leader for Talent with Mr Mohan, Retired VP Procter&Gamble

  Being authentic, focusing on purpose and values: these are the main features leading his leadership and career. Mr Mohan  is Retired VP Procter&Gamble and Professor at London Business School: on February 14, he is meeting LUISS Business School International Masters’ students on the occasion of Leader for Talent – #L4T, a series of meetings with speakers from the corporate world. These meetings with business leaders of important organizations are oriented to management best practices and designed to offer students the opportunity to debate current business issues to enrich their professional and soft skills. Mohan Mohan, from India, is a retired Procter & Gamble marketing executive, having had a memorable career spread over three continents for nearly 30 years. He joined the Company in 1972 in Geneva, Switzerland and gained experience in building business and organizations across Europe, Middle East and Africa. He acknowledges freely that all his accomplishments are entirely due to the people in the Company who helped him along the way in all locations he lived and worked. Key highlights during Mohan’s P&G career were: In Saudi Arabia, introduced and built business on new brands such as Pampers, Ariel, Pringles. Helped expand business across all Gulf Countries. Doubled business in Ireland. Responsible for the successful start-up and development of P&G’s Egyptian factory and business operations which is thriving today. Responsible for the successful start-up and development of P&G’s business in Portugal; handling Laundry & Cleaning and Health & Beauty Care divisions. As Vice President and General Manager, UK and Ireland, responsible for Health, Beauty Care and Cosmetics he helped grow these businesses. He was a Global Team Leader for recruiting talent for Europe. Following his retirement from P&G in 2000, Mohan joined Findus Ltd. from 2001 – 2003 as General Manager for UK and Ireland. Findus is a leading international Frozen Food business, operating in the Retail and Foodservice sectors. Mohan received Bachelors Honours Degree (B.E Honours) in Mechanical Engineering and Masters degree in Technology (M. Tech) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. Big Data Management for Executive, Food & Beverage Management, Privacy Governance, Digital Marketing and Social Media Communication, but also Energy industry - major of the Master in Management and Technology and Digital Business Strategy - major of the Master in Management and Technology: this is the range of Luiss Business School courses offered at the Milan Luiss Hub. The Milano Luiss Hub is a multifunctional space in the heart of the innovation district, founded on the collaboration between Luiss Guido Carli, the City of Milan, the Brodolini Foundation, and ItaliaCamp with the sponsorship of WIND-TRE and TERNA. Leader for Talent #L4T with Marco Alverà, CEO of Snam

  With 20 years of experience in Italy’s most important energy companies, he is CEO of Snam, Europe’s largest natural gas utility, since April 2016. On January 14, LUISS Business School International Masters’ students will meet Marco Alverà on the occasion of Leader for Talent – #L4T, a series of meetings with speakers from the corporate world. These meetings with business leaders of important organizations are oriented to management best practices and designed to offer students the opportunity to debate current business issues to enrich their professional and soft skills. Marco Alverà is also Scientific Coordinator and Professor of the major in Energy Industry of the Master in Management & Technology. Marco Alverà, 43, is an Italian businessman and has been the CEO of Snam, Europe’s largest natural gas utility, since April 2016. Marco has 20 years of experience in Italy’s most important energy companies. Marco holds a degree in Philosophy and Economics from the London School of Economics and started his career working at Goldman Sachs in London. In 2002, he joined Enel as Director of Group Corporate Strategy and a member of the management committee, contributing significantly to the development of the company's gas strategy. In 2004 he became Chief Financial Officer of Wind Telecom and oversaw the sale of Wind to Orascom. In 2005 he moved to Eni where he worked for 10 years holding various positions. He joined the company as Director of Supply & Portfolio Development at the Gas & Power Division, successfully navigating the group through the Russia-Ukraine gas crisis in the Winter of 2006. In 2008 he moved to Eni’s Exploration & Production Division as Executive Vice President for Russia, Northern Europe, and North and South America. In 2010 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Eni Trading and Shipping. In 2013, he took on responsibility for the Midstream business unit, which consolidates the results of Eni’s Gas & Power Division and brings together all of the supply, logistics and trading activities linked to energy commodities. He was later appointed Chief Retail Market Gas & Power Officer at Eni. Marco is a Visiting Fellow of the University of Oxford. He currently serves as President of GasNaturally, non-executive director of S&P Global and member of the General Council of the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice. 14/01/2019
